Haldia Paribesh — Privacy Policy

Haldia Paribesh ("the app", "we", "us") is an environmental civic app for the Haldia region that lets residents view local Air Quality Index (AQI) data, read municipal posts, and submit environmental complaints to the relevant municipal departments. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have — including how to delete your account and data.

1. Information we collect

Data	Why we collect it
Name, email address, phone number	To create and secure your account. Sign-in uses a one-time password (OTP) sent to your phone — we do not store any password.
Location (approximate & precise GPS)	Attached to a complaint only when you submit one, so the correct department can locate the reported issue. Location is not tracked in the background.
Photos you attach	Included with a complaint to evidence the reported environmental issue.
Device push token	Sent via OneSignal so we can notify you about your complaint status and municipal updates.
App activity & diagnostics	Basic in-app actions and crash/diagnostic data to keep the app working and secure.

We do NOT collect passwords, payment/card details, contacts, SMS content, browsing history, or background location.

2. How your information is used

• To register you and keep you signed in.
• To route your complaints (with their location and photos) to the correct Haldia municipal department and track their resolution.
• To show AQI readings and municipal posts.
• To send notifications about your complaints and important updates.
• To diagnose crashes and protect the service from abuse.

3. Sharing

Your complaint details — including the description, attached photos, and location — are shared with the Haldia municipal authorities and the specific department(s) assigned to resolve your complaint. This is the core purpose of the app.

We use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes: Amazon Web Services (secure hosting & image storage), OneSignal (push notifications), and an SMS gateway (delivering your login OTP). We do not sell your personal data.

4. Data security & retention

Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored on access-controlled servers. We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your account record and the complaints tied to it are permanently removed (see below).

5. Deleting your account and data

You can permanently delete your account and its data at any time:

• In the app: open Settings (gear icon on the Home screen) → Delete Account → confirm. This immediately and permanently deletes your account, and your submitted complaints, from our servers.
• By request: visit our Account & Data Deletion page or email us (below) from your registered address.

Deletion is irreversible. Aggregated, non-identifying AQI statistics that cannot be linked to you may be retained.

6. Children

The app is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this page.
